What's Going On With Star-Valli Yamaha?
Over the past few days of rumors that Cole Thompson was picked up by the Star-Valli squad, I was asking the same thing. It seems like all of their riders have been injured or are injured. The group of seven solid riders has dwindled down to a handful. Even their new guy, Kyle Peters, has found himself forced to the sidelines.
At the beginning of the season, it seemed like these guys had the group of riders that would get them some serious attention. Kyle Cunningham and Gareth Swanepoel were both serious contenders in the race for fourth last year and Kyle Peters was a promising, fresh talent from the amateurs.
Don't get me wrong, they've all done admirably this season. The team is just having a rough year, to say the least. Even their replacement rider, Tommy Weeck, only managed to get through one weekend before ending up in the hospital. So now with the news of Cole Thompson agreeing to join the team for the next few rounds, I can't help but wonder why the team keeps bringing in riders instead of simply admitting defeat like the Yoshimura Suzuki team has.
Racer X was wondering the same thing. So, when the news of Cole Thompson's new ride was still a hushed rumor, Aaron Hansel called up the co-owner of the Star-Valli Yamaha team, Chad Lanza and asked him exactly what was going through the team's collective head.
