GoPro: Back in Action
Davi Millsaps returns to racing in Southwick, MA after 7 weeks of being out with an injury. Congratulations to Davi for getting fourth overall in his first race back!
Round: 9; Southwick
Features: Davi Millsaps, Josh Grant, Jessy Nelson
Race Footage: 2 minutes, 30 seconds
Extra Footage: 6 out of 10
Not bad, I guess. I enjoyed seeing part of Davi's off the bike routine (cycling) and it was cool to put a few shots of what happens in the pits as far as mechanics working on bikes and checking out GoPro footage. But really, that was it as far as extra stuff. It was only slightly better than "eh", which equates to a 5 in my book. So this week, extra got a 6.

The music was alright. It reminded me of some weird underwater background music in an old school Mario Bros. game. Kind of like a 20th century remix. Not quite sure if it really did anything for the video. It just made it seem dreamlike, almost. And that's definitely not what Southwick seemed like. At least from this side of the screen.

The backwards cam returns!! I definitely am a huge fan of that angle. it's so cool, especially off the start. It was cool that they put this view on Millsaps. I'm not sure if they really planned it or not, but it was kind of expected that he would get a mid-pack start. And a mid-pack start is perfect for that shot. If they would have put it on Jessy Nelson, who got a HUGE holeshot, there wouldn't have been as many riders to see right up on the tail of him. And that's the excitement. The rest of the footage was pretty standard. Nothing particularly exciting
Overall: I really wish they would have taken the time at Southwick to focus on it being a sand track and how gnarly it was. I was really disappointed that they didn't have the GoPro on Alex Martin, as he had some spectacular moments during his races. I can't say that I paticularly enjoyed this week's video. It was just sort of... bland. And besides, there's already been a Davi Millsaps feature video this year. I think two was a little overboard. I understand he just came back from injury, but there were plenty of other things to focus on at the Wick. Hopefully GoPro will get it better next week.
