GoPro: The End of 2012

The Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championships season comes to the final race at the Lake Elsinore Nationals! Don't miss out on a wild ride through the mud and past the final flag!

Round: 12; Lake Elsinore
Length: 3:40
Features: Jeff Weiner, Troy Lee, Nico Izzi, Christian Craig, Travis Baker, Ryan Sipes, Jessy Nelson, Kyle Cunningham, Kyle Chisholm
Race Footage: 2 minutes, 30 seconds

Extra Footage: 9 out of 10

Pretty cool extra stuff this week. Though it's not really at the races, it's still super sweet to look at a whole team over such a broad scope. We get to follow the TLD Honda team from driving in the truck to tearing the bikes down and rebuilding them, to setting up at the races all over again. GoPro also gives us a little peek behind the scenes at the Troy Lee compound where they paint helmets and prepare jerseys for the guys every week.

It was nice extra footage to see. The only reason it isn't a 10 is because I would've liked to see a little more on-track extra footage. Maybe of the guys between motos, seeing as they were going for the "team feature" vibe. Overall, much better than past videos, though. The view from the back of Jessy Nelson's bike as it was getting loaded was an awesome angle.

Atmosphere: 8 out of 10

I have a hard time believing that the chill music at the beginning and the heavy dubstep-like music at the end are the same song. But aside from that, I think they split the song well to fit what was going on in the video. I don't know if a lot of people realize how important music is to how you view the video. If they would have continued to play the music that was at the beginning for the race footage, it would have been way less intense to watch. Good choices made by the GoPro crew when it comes to the video ambiance.

Race Footage: 10 out of 10

YEA! Here we go! This race footage was awesome! Not only did we get to see gnarly first-turn crashes, which I'm always a fan of, but we also got to see a Baggett attack from the perspective of Jessy Nelson. You have to remember that Nelson is by no means a slow rider, so for Baggett to just breeze by him like that speaks volumes about how fast that kid was actually booking. The only thing that could have made this race footage any better was if we would have gotten some of that backwards cam action going on, at least on one rider.

Overall: Great end to the season for the GoPro guys. It's Friday, which is way later in the week than they normally release it, but I can imagine it took them a while to put this one together. And it was worth the wait, I'll tell you. 2012 is wrapped up and done. Hopefully that means that the creative team will start brainstorming new, awesome ideas for 2013. Maybe they could follow some of the media guys around at Supercross one week. Just a thought.

Thanks to everyone who checked these reviews out each week. Hope you enjoyed 'em and I'll see you all in 2013.
