GoPro: Minnesota Lovin'

Alex Martin heads back to his home town track in Spring Creek, MN to race in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship series.

Round: 7; Millville/Spring Creek
Length: 3:33
Features: Josh Grant, Jessy Nelson, Alex Martin, Ryan Sipes, Gareth Swanepoel
Race Footage: 3 minutes

Extra Footage: 8 out of 10

There wasn't a lot of it, which is why I only gave an 8. But the extra footage this week really added another dimension to the video. The guys at GoPro were smart and took full advantage of their sponsorship with home-track kid, Alex Martin. They didn't put a huge focus on him like they did when they featured Davi Millsaps during the supercross season, but they had him provide the background narrative with the history of the track. Which was awesome. And then, who could say that the shot of the little kid screaming "I love motocross!" wasn't absolutely adorable?

Atmosphere: 9 out of 10

This video had me watching it the whole way through! It flowed from one thing to the next really effortlessly and the music was jammin'! I'd never even heard of Mochipet before GoPro used them in their edits. I have no idea how they discover these bands, but I definitely approve this week. If you aren't feeling pumped up and psyched by the end of this video, something is seriously wrong.

Race Footage: 9 out of 10

I have a really hard time giving a perfect score to anything, so I had to give this a 9. But this week, the guys got some really sick footage. Not only did Alex Martin almost run over a photographer after being pushed off the track in the first turn, but we got to see Ryan Sipes go down and Josh Grant mix with Vince Friese at the start! And, best of all, we got to see the return of the reverse cam! Jessy Nelson got to wear his GoPro backwards, which made for some awesome shots of the guys behind him.

Overall: Definitely one of the best weeks for GoPro so far in the outdoors. I think there were some better supercross edits that the guys did, but that's just going to be a fact of life. The whole video was very well put together, which only means that it was well planned. Big shout out to all the guys who put these videos together week in and week out. They're awesome and I love them. Let's keep at least one rider rocking the reverse GoPro each week from now on, okay guys?
